POCO is neck and neck with Realme, having built a different fanbase in a short period. In response to the demand for 5G phones, POCO is taking a holistic approach rather than prioritizing just 5G connectivity. It involves an additional cost to bring a 5G device to market. 

There is often a trade-off between display, camera, and fast charging, especially in the 13-15K price segment, to justify the higher cost of 5G processors. The country head of POCO India, Himanshu Tandon, said consumers considering 5G smartphones in this price bracket should consider the pros and cons and find a device that offers relevant features.

Find a 5G phone That Meets Your Needs.

The n78 band is supported by most 5G phones, but the n28 band is likely to be found in more expensive 5G phones. The reason is that 700MHz is intended for standalone 5G services, or SA 5G, which will be available only from Reliance Jio. N258 and mmWave are the high-band spectrums that occupy 26GHz. There is a slight chance that consumers will initially have access to mmWave connectivity since n258 supports mmWave.

Smartphones connecting to both NSA and SA networks are an essential consideration. Xiaomi spokesperson said that when choosing a smartphone, consumers should research and understand the frequency and timeliness of updates offered by an OEM, especially for SA networks.

The 5G network is expected to deliver download and upload speeds of over 1Gbps to customers worldwide, but Indian telcos promise to increase speed over 4G. There are 420Mbps download and 412Mbps upload speeds on Jio’s 5G network. The 5G trials conducted by Airtel showed speeds of up to 1Gbps, but initial 5G speeds will be lower.

In most cases, 5G network speeds decline as more and more users adopt the new technology. According to Ookla Speedtest Intelligence, the next quarter’s median 5G download speeds hit 114.92Mbps on the new networks. However, in Q2 2022, that had dropped to 70.88Mbps.

WHAT MAKES EMMY’S 2021 DIFFERENT

As they say, anything can happen at Emmys, something history, something scandalous, or something record-breaking. This year is no exception. In the distressful period of the pandemic when people were housebound, many web series and new shows emerged and were liked by people. Shows kept people entertained and made them smile in tough times. 

On 13th July, Television Academy announced the nominations for the various categories of the awards. The list came out to be historic. Let’s have a quick look at the astonishing and record-smashing facts of the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards nomination list.

Historical Special Awards Nominations are as follows:- 

• Ted Lasso

Starting from the Apple TV+ comedy show Ted Lasso, which got 20 nominations in the comedy genre in one year. However, it was not enough to break the record of 30 Rocks which got 30 nominations in a single year. But the series created its record of getting maximum nominations in the first year. That surely beats the record of Glee for 19 nominations as a freshman. The show is nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series, where Jason Sudeikis was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. 

• WandaVision

In the limited series category, Disney+’s WandaVision came out to be nothing but impressive. The show got 23 nominations which is a large number for a limited series. The show will compete with other famous series like The Underground Railroad and Mare of Easttown for Outstanding Limited Or Anthology Series title.

• Highest Nominations

Another show from Disney+, “Star Wars: The Mandalorian,” made its place in the list of Outstanding Drama Series nominations. Thus the show got a total of 24 nominations. Netflix’s Royal Drama series The Crown also got 24 nominations and tied with Disney+’s Star wars series The Mandalorian.

This year, some actors came into the limelight with their nominations.

•  Multiple nominations

Actress Jean Smart has two balls in her court. She is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Hacks and Outstanding supporting actress in a limited series for Mare of Easttown. Same luck with Aidy Bryant, who got nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Shrill and Outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series for Saturday Night Live. Another actor Kenan Thompson is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Kenan and Outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series for Saturday Night Live.

• Long-Awaited Nominations

Ten seasons of Friends and only one actress left without being nominated. Courteney Cox finally got its place in the nominee list as an executive producer of the HBO Friends The reunion. In past years, she did receive 7 Guild awards nominations for her work and won once.

Well-known actor Carl Weathers got his first nomination in the Primetime Emmy Awards for a major acting award at 73. He is nominated as the Outstanding Guest Actor In A Drama Series for The Mandalorians. 

Diversity like never before

Emmy’s nominations came out to be more diverse this year. A total of 46 Names shined in the nomination list among the African origin actors in the nominations of 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards.

• Lovecraft Country

This is the first time a Black couple of lead actors got a nomination for the same series in the same year.  Lovecraft Country stars Jonathan Majors is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, and Jurnee Smollett at the same time is nominated for Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

• Pose and This Is Us

For the first time, a trans-woman, Mj Rodriguez, made up the Outstanding Lead Actress nomination list in a Drama Series category for the show Pose. 

Pose star Billy Porter and This Is Us lead Sterling K. Brown, both black actors, got nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series category. Both have won in this category once, and if either of them wins; they will be the only black actors to win the title twice. Counting Regé-Jean Page makes four actors from non-white ethnicities come in Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series nomination.

• Lincoln: Divided We Stand

Sterling K. Brown also got nominated for Outstanding Narrator for Lincoln: Divided We Stand.

The history-making nomination list came from the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, where 3 out of 6 nominations are of black women. It never happened before that three black women have been nominated for the same category at Emmy’s.

• RuPaul’s Drag Race

Prominent Drag queen RuPaul is not behind in this race. He is nominated for the Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition Program. He had already dominated this category for the last five years and will win favourably. Two more wins and he will be the most awarded Black performer of Emmy, beating Donald A. Morgan. RuPaul’s Drag Race has already won 19 different Primetime Emmy awards in the Competition category and holds 11 nominations this year. 

• Flight attendant

Flight attendant actress Rosie Perez got nominated for the category of supporting comedy actress, which makes her the Third Latina Actress nominated for this category after Sofia Vergara in 2013.

The big game.

Multinational Mass media Star Walt Disney Company earned 146 nominations altogether from various networks beating their last record of 145 nominations.  

Some shows like Small Axe, The Undoing, and The Good Lord Bird, highly appraised by the public, were nowhere in the nominations. It is a bit disappointing that not even a single nomination fell in their name. Same fate for the Sci-fi show ‘The Expanse’ and ‘For All mankind’ faced severe competition against Disney+’s Star wars series, The Mandalorian.

This year’s Award ceremony will be historic, setting many new records. The starry night will be on 19th September. Till then, enjoy watching these shows.

Record Smashing Heat in CANADA

A recent matter of concern is the sudden and unpredicted heat wave in the western parts of Canada. A country well known for its cold climate and snowfall is facing a groundbreaking outrage of temperature. The last week of June 2021 has been the hottest in the history of Canada. On 27 June 2021, Canada broke a national record for the highest temperature in the region of Vancouver when the temperature crossed 115.9° F. 

Miserable experiences reported by people who have never suffered such heat trapped to stay indoors and rush to the Air-conditioned facilities to save their lives. The sweater weather country was sweating in that heatwave on Sunday, but that was not enough. The temperature kept increasing in the next couple of days. On 29 June 2021, Lytton, a small town of British Columbia province, recorded the highest ever temperature in Canada. The temperature on Tuesday broke the record of previous days and set a new record of when temperature crossed 49.6°C or 121.28°F. Even in the frozen zones of Northern Canada, the highest temperature of the region recorded to be was 30°C.

As per the Royal Meteorological Society, Canada is warming twice as fast as any other region globally, which is a severe issue to handle. Almost 500 deaths have been reported till now in British Columbia due to the extensive heat. The dry weather is also creating a fear of wildfire.

Why is it being SO HOT?

Scientifically the reason for this increase has been a ‘HEAT DOME.’ A heat dome is an extensive and rigid high-pressure hot air grid that can entrap atmospheric heat in it. It is a very slow-moving heat cloud in the upper atmosphere. This kind of heat trap is the pattern from Southwest of the USA but never occurred in Canada before. In this condition, the atmospheric pressure decreases, and hot gases rise, entrapping the heat within this dome, causing a fatal increase in temperature. Heat, drought, poor air quality, floods, and wildfires are also possible, worsening climate change.

The Death Cases

The BBC recorded a police sergeant, Steve Addison, who said that He had never experienced a situation like this in his 15 years of career when he got such a volume of deaths in such a short period. 3-4 calls a day were expected, according to him. The death count had crossed 700 till now. In British Columbia, many people visiting their relatives ‘found them deceased’ in their homes. Most of the deceased were aged and ill.

The Fire Cases

Mayor Jan Polderman told CBC News, “It’s dire. The whole town is on fire. “It took, like, a whole 15 minutes from the first sign of smoke to, all of a sudden, there being fire everywhere.”

The whole town of Lytton, B.C. in Canada was engulfed in raging flames of wildfire in minutes on the night of Wednesday, 30 June. The condition was out of control, and the town’s mayor had to order the town’s evacuation. It was the same town that recorded the three consecutive hottest days in Canadian history.

Conditions and Public Response

Due to the mild hot temperature in Canada, most of the houses do not have air conditioning. This means they do not have any solid redressal for the ongoing.

Hot days and nights. A resident reported that Hotels had sold out; People are rushing to the hotels for the air conditioning. They have never seen anything like this before. The government has issued heat warnings for British Columbia, Alberta, and some other northwestern territories. People are staying indoors as much as possible. Amazon on Monday turned its Portland, Canada headquarters and Seattle, USA headquarters into cooling centres and let the locals in for relief.

How to be Safe

People need to stay safe in such conditions. What people can do is:

• Stay inside

1. Stay inside and in the shade as much as you can.
2. Avoid going in direct sunlight.
3. Keep the pets indoors too.

• Stay calm

In this situation, the government urged all the residents to stay calm mentally and keep themselves and their surroundings cool by using air conditioning or other methods like fans, cooling gel, ice packs, cold showers, etc. Avoid exercise as it can raise body temperature, and heatstroke can settle in.

• Hydration

Keep yourself hydrated. No thirst doesn’t mean you are not dehydrating. Give rehydration solutions to kids and elders. Eat food with high water contents and light meals which are easy to digest.

• Check for symptoms

Keep a check on heatstroke and dehydration symptoms like feeling hot and dry, stopping sweat, skin irritation, and faintness.
